Ferrum Introduces Wandla 2.0.0 Firmware Update with New Streaming Control Technology
Ferrum has announced the release of Wandla 2.0.0, a firmware update for its Wandla family of digital-to-analog converters (DACs), set to be showcased at the High End Munich 2025 exhibition. The update introduces Ferrum Streaming Control Technology (FSCT), which the company describes as a significant step forward in integrating music streaming controls directly into the DAC’s interface.
According to Ferrum, FSCT allows users to manage their music streaming directly through the Wandla’s touch screen and remote control, a feature the manufacturer claims is unique among DACs. The touch screen will also display track information such as artist, title, and a playback progress bar.
“Ferrum Streaming Control Technology lets you control your streamer with your Wandla remote control and also display title and artist info on its touch screen,” the company stated. The technology is compatible with systems running Windows, MacOS, and Volumio OS, although support may vary depending on third-party software implementations.
The firmware update, to be installed via the Ferrum Control App for PC and Mac, includes several other enhancements. Among them is volume synchronization, which enables mutual control between the DAC’s internal preamp and a connected computer. An updated user interface aims to present information more clearly, with adjustments for both near and distant readability.
Additionally, the update introduces expanded I2S input compatibility, increasing the range of devices that can be connected via this digital interface. A new “favorites input” feature is also included, allowing users to designate and quickly access their most-used input sources.
The Ferrum Wandla 2.0.0 update is compatible with all models in the Wandla lineup, including the standard Wandla, Wandla HP (headphone edition), and the Wandla GoldenSound edition. Ferrum says the update will be free and available shortly after High End Munich concludes on May 18, 2025.
Ferrum’s booth at the Munich event will highlight the new firmware capabilities as part of the company’s fifth-anniversary celebration. The company emphasizes that the update is intended to make complex operations feel more intuitive, though it notes that functionality may be limited on platforms or software not fully supporting FSCT.
