Métronome introduces Le DAC 3 with expanded high-resolution audio support and optional streaming capability.
French high-end audio manufacturer Métronome has announced the Le DAC 3, a new digital-to-analog converter positioned as the latest evolution in its component lineup. According to the company, the model is designed to combine the brand’s established industrial design with updated digital processing capabilities aimed at advanced high-resolution audio playback.
Métronome describes Le DAC 3 as supporting PCM audio files up to 768 kHz and DSD formats up to DSD1024. The manufacturer claims this allows for highly precise digital conversion while maintaining what it characterizes as a “lively” and “natural” sound presentation. These performance descriptions reflect Métronome’s own assessment of the product’s sonic character.
Updated digital architecture and connectivity
At the core of Le DAC 3 is the ES9026PRO conversion processor, specified by Métronome with a total harmonic distortion plus noise figure of -110 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 124 dB. The unit is classified by the company within its high-end range.
One of the notable hardware updates is the inclusion of two I2S inputs, intended to improve compatibility with high-end digital transports and servers. In addition to I2S, Le DAC 3 offers a wide range of digital inputs, including USB, S/P DIF, AES/EBU, and Toslink, with support for both PCM and DSD formats depending on the connection type.
USB input allows PCM playback from 44.1 kHz up to 768 kHz at 32-bit resolution, as well as native DSD from DSD64 through DSD1024. Other digital inputs support PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD via DoP, with Toslink limited to 192 kHz PCM and DSD64.
Analog outputs and display
Le DAC 3 provides both RCA and XLR analog outputs. RCA outputs are specified with an output impedance of 100 ohms and a maximum output level of 3 volts, while XLR outputs are rated at 150 ohms with the same maximum output level.
The front panel features a 7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, used for system control and status display.
Optional streaming module
An optional integrated streaming module is available, expanding Le DAC 3’s functionality beyond traditional digital inputs. When equipped with this option, the unit supports PCM streaming from 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz and native DSD from DSD64 to DSD256. Network connectivity is handled via a gigabit Ethernet port, and two USB 2.0 ports are provided for external storage.
The streaming platform supports DLNA/UPnP and is compatible with Audirvāna, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Deezer, and vTunner. MQA rendering is supported from 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz, according to Métronome.
Physical specifications and power
Le DAC 3 measures 450 x 120 x 420 mm and weighs 12 kg. Power consumption is listed at 50 watts, with standby consumption specified at 40 watts. The unit is rated for operation in temperatures from +5°C to +35°C and humidity levels between 5% and 90%.
Availability and pricing were not disclosed at the time of announcement.
