The Xavian Grande Unica loudspeakers blend handcrafted solid oak design with high-sensitivity performance.
A new floorstanding loudspeaker model, the Xavian Grande Unica, has been introduced as an expanded version of the Unica series, emphasizing handcrafted construction, natural materials, and room-friendly performance. According to the manufacturer, the model builds on experience gained from the Unica and earlier Madre Perla designs, as well as elements drawn from the broader Natura series.
The Grande Unica cabinet is made from 23 millimeter thick solid oak, with each enclosure handmade in the company’s workshops in Hostivice. The manufacturer states that rounded edges, corners, and the organic bass reflex design are achieved through careful manual work rather than automated processes. A matte varnish with a hint of natural wax is used to highlight the wood grain, giving each pair a distinctive appearance.
In terms of sound characteristics, the manufacturer claims that Grande Unica delivers “greater fullness, detail, and majesty” compared to the smaller Unica model. Its high sensitivity, rated at 93 decibels, is intended to support dynamic playback even with moderately powered amplifiers. Bass performance is also highlighted, with the company describing the low-frequency depth as “enviable”.
Designed for living environments
The loudspeaker is designed for typical living spaces rather than dedicated listening rooms. According to the manufacturer, Grande Unica performs best when placed 10 to 20 centimeters from a rear wall and does not require complex positioning or setup. This positioning flexibility is intended to make the speaker suitable for “normal spaces and normal listening.”
Grande Unica is a two-way damped bass reflex system using custom-designed AudioBarletta drivers made in Italy. The mid-bass section consists of two 150 millimeter drivers with special polypropylene membranes and short-circuiting copper rings, while high frequencies are handled by a 26 millimeter impregnated soft dome tweeter with wide bandwidth. The crossover employs carefully selected Jantzen components, with a crossover frequency of 2,870 hertz.
Technical specifications list a frequency range of 48 to 20,000 hertz (-3 decibels), nominal impedance of 4 ohms, and recommended amplifier power between 30 and 100 watts. Each speaker measures 900 x 200 x 280 millimeters and weighs 17.5 kilograms. Connectivity is provided via a single pair of individually mounted gold-plated terminals.
The manufacturer states that parameters are tuned so the speakers can “easily play with any amplifier,” positioning the Grande Unica as a versatile option for a wide range of audio systems.
Xavian Grande Unica availability and price
The retail price is set at 2,000 euros per pair. Due to the handcrafted nature of production and reported high demand, delivery time is approximately one month from order confirmation, according to the manufacturer.
