Xavian introduces Unica, an affordable loudspeaker with a real-wood enclosure designed to work well in bookshelves and on desktops.
Czech loudspeaker manufacturer Xavian has announced the Unica, a new entry-level model in its Natura series. According to the company, the speaker is intended as “a truly exceptional gateway to the world of Xavian loudspeakers and the experience of true Hi-Fi.” The Unica is positioned below the long-running Perla and Joy models, drawing on more than a decade of development in that product line.
Xavian states that the Unica’s cabinet design relies heavily on manual craftsmanship, noting that its “beautiful smooth shapes are created by a team of our exceptionally talented carpenters.” The speakers use classic oak with a modern varnish intended to highlight the grain of the wood. The manufacturer emphasizes that the curved Natura-series enclosure forms “can only be created through patient handcrafting.”
The enclosures use 23-millimeter-thick material—an uncommon specification in this price segment, according to the company. Xavian says the cabinet’s rigidity is complemented by custom-developed AudioBarletta drivers designed specifically for the Unica, paired with a minimalist crossover using “five carefully selected Jantzen components.”
The design goal, Xavian claims, was to achieve “above-average sensitivity for easy playback,” along with a “pleasant, highly organic, and consistently enjoyable sound character.” The Unica uses a front bass-reflex port to support placement flexibility, with the company stating that the model performs well “against walls, on shelves or tables, without the need for complicated adjustments.”
All production is carried out in the Czech Republic, and key features include custom AudioBarletta drivers, solid oak cabinet construction, handcrafted finishing, and pared-back crossover design. The Unica is priced at €990 per pair.
