Ferrum Previews Broen Network Streaming Transport at Warsaw and Paris Audio Shows.
Ferrum has announced its new network streaming transport, Broen, in a pre-release ahead of this year’s Audio Video Show Warsaw and Paris Audio Video Show. The company describes Broen as “not a streamer… It’s a work of art,” highlighting its ambition to deliver a high-end digital streaming experience.
Broen represents Ferrum’s first dedicated streaming product, developed to complement its existing Wandla family of digital-to-analog converters (DACs). According to Ferrum, the device builds on the recent Wandla firmware update, Wandla 2.0.0, which introduced Ferrum Streaming Control Technology (FSCT), enabling seamless integration with a wide range of streaming sources. The company states that combining Broen with Wandla creates “one of the strongest streaming propositions of this moment,” enhancing the performance of both devices.
Design-wise, Ferrum took a ground-up approach reminiscent of its earlier Hypsos product. The company developed a proprietary Serce Digital-to-Digital module for Broen, which operates exclusively in the digital domain. Ferrum claims this design allows “all digital processes [to be executed] with unbelievable perfection,” with strict separation between input and output domains and galvanically isolated audio outputs. Broen also offers flexible connectivity, including WiFi and an SFP port that supports both Ethernet and optical modules for optimized network integration.
The device supports multiple playback sources and is controlled via Fsct when paired with Wandla, allowing users to operate Broen from Wandla’s touchscreen or remote. The manufacturer emphasizes that pairing Broen with Hypsos further enhances performance through its proprietary Ferrum Power Link (FPL) connection and 4Tsd voltage sensing, which it claims maximizes the musicality of both components.
Broen runs on Volumio software, providing access to a broad set of streaming features. Supported services include Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, AirPlay, and UPNP/DLNA, alongside CD playback, multi-room streaming, and AI-assisted search features. Ferrum also notes that the device includes an internal SSD slot and supports over-the-air firmware updates, helping ensure the platform remains up to date and future-proof.
Ferrum has indicated that Broen is scheduled for release in the first or second quarter of 2026. Pricing has not yet been announced. The company’s promotional materials highlight several features as key selling points, including ultra-low jitter audio clocks, flexible network connectivity, modular SFP options, and full FSCT support when paired with Wandla.
