FIDELITY AWARD 2026

For the fifth time already, the FIDELITY team is awarding prizes for the most exciting HiFi products and technologies of the past years: Enjoy the FIDELITY AWARDS 2026!

There is movement in the market, and not just a little. We are repeatedly struck by the feeling that the entire HiFi and High-End industry is incessantly drifting toward superlatives. This is hard to dispute, as what one can invest in a system today surpasses everything that has come before. The performance of such super systems is meanwhile reaching heights and spheres that can hardly be put into words. In this (still relatively young) year, we have already attended several product presentations that can only be described with an expression like “wow” or better yet “wowsers!”

The problem with such mega-components (or systems) is, of course, that their size, performance, and polarizing price tags attract extreme attention – which is indeed intended by the manufacturers. In the shadow of the superlatives, however, it is overlooked that even affordable – and we really mean affordable – systems are also making quantum leaps. Sooner or later, the “little gems” will benefit from the innovations and optimizations of the major technology carriers. Processing, equipment, and accessibility have reached an unprecedented level even in the entry and mid-range classes, and you really have to make an effort to find any flaws at all – a fact that doesn’t make the selection and choice for the FIDELITY AWARD any easier for us.

What is the FIDELITY AWARD?

The FIDELITY AWARD is not understood in the sense of a carved winner’s podium. We focus on highlights that match the character of our exclusive magazine when selecting our test candidates. With the AWARD, we honor components within this selection that, due to their sound quality, refinement, or certain features and characteristics, can be considered the best, most interesting, and/or most groundbreaking in their respective category. In rare exceptions (we try to avoid such cases), this can lead to double allocations in individual categories – we don’t need to explain to you that the term “floorstanding speaker” is so vague that it is impossible for all concepts on the market to be treated the same. You will find the respective reasons for awarding our candidates on the following pages. Two years ago, we explained to you at this point that we would be suspending our AWARD category “HiFi Legend” to avoid inflating the term. We are pleased to spoil here that this year, we awarded not one, but two entrants the “Legend” badge – and we’re quite certain you will agree with our decision.

The selection of the AWARDS always offers the opportunity to reflect on trends and tendencies. If you are hoping for new or even groundbreaking insights here, we must disappoint you: As in 2024, our trending needles clearly point toward the active ones in all their forms, which are increasingly on the rise. They are once again flanked by everything related to turntables, vinyl, needles, and equalization. Analog technology has not only reclaimed its rightful place but is also constantly being refined and detailed across all price ranges.

Who is eligible for a FIDELITY AWARD?

The framework conditions are quite simple: For the FIDELITY AWARD 2026, all devices, accessories, and technologies for which we can make an objective statement were qualified. This applies to all the products we had in-house, and includes a select group of components that we were allowed to extensively test during company visits. As a second condition, the candidates had to be those whose tests had already been published or are found in this issue (in the print magazine or online). The set timeframe includes FIDELITY issues No. 74 to No. 86 as well as online tests from the same production period, that is, from April 2024 to May 2026. As a third condition, the awarded products should be current: At the time of the award presentation, all winners are available in stores. It should be noted that the HIGH-END fair in June determines the product cycle for many manufacturers. Therefore, there may have been generational changes that we could not foresee at the time of the selection.
