The Aavik I-588 is an extraordinary integrated amplifier through and through. Even its predecessor, the I-580, earned top marks for its beautifully balanced sound. In the meantime, the manufacturer was able to experiment with entirely new amplifier circuits in its flagship I-880, innovations that ultimately made their way into the more affordable 500 Series. Yet for all its sonic richness, it’s easy to overlook the fact that the I-588 is also an exceptionally versatile device, thanks to its intuitive menu system, 300/600 watts of output (8/4 Ω), and an extensive array of advanced features.
