Lyngdorf introduces SB-75 soundbar designed to deliver the sound of stereo speakers from a soundbar form factor.
Lyngdorf Audio has announced the SB-75, a passive stereo soundbar intended to deliver the performance of two high-end loudspeakers in a single on-wall enclosure. Designed for placement below large televisions or projection screens, the manufacturer positions the SB-75 as an alternative to traditional left and right speakers for both movie and music playback.
According to Lyngdorf, the SB-75 aims to combine “the small footprint of an on-wall soundbar and the music and movie experience from real high-end speakers and a good amplifier.” Unlike active soundbars with built-in amplification and signal processing, the SB-75 is a passive full-range stereo speaker that requires an external amplifier. This design choice is intended to appeal to users who already own high-quality amplification or prefer to choose their own electronics.
The cabinet is notably shallow, measuring 11 centimeters deep without the wall-mount bracket, and is tuned for placement close to a wall. Lyngdorf states that this approach improves power efficiency and allows for a high maximum volume level, while maintaining a wide soundstage. The enclosure is a closed, internally braced MDF construction, which the company says contributes to controlled and defined bass response.
Internally, the SB-75 features a two-way stereo configuration. High frequencies are handled by two 28 millimeter fabric soft dome tweeters, while midrange and bass duties are shared by four 180 millimeter long-throw woofers with aluminum cones, die-cast baskets, and vented magnets. Lyngdorf highlights these woofers as “exceptionally powerful,” claiming they deliver impactful bass despite the slim cabinet design.
Custom Colors and Widths on Request
From an installation perspective, the SB-75 is designed to be wall mounted and includes an integrated wall-mount bracket. The ultra matte black finish is intended to blend into dark cinema rooms or disappear behind sound-transparent screens, while rounded edges and a detachable midnight grey fabric grille are aimed at easier integration into living spaces. The manufacturer also notes that custom widths and colors are available on request, produced at its cabinet factory in Denmark, with additional delivery time.
The standard SB-75 model is sized to match 75- and 77-inch televisions and screens. Lyngdorf describes the product as offering “the power, volume level and details of a pair of high-end floor-standing speakers – with a much smaller footprint in the room,” a claim that positions it as a space-saving alternative to traditional speaker setups.
Key specifications include a power handling of 250 watts (IEC), a frequency response of 57 to 20,000 hertz (-3 dB), a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, and a maximum sound pressure level of 117 decibels at one meter peak. The soundbar measures 168 by 20 by 11 centimeters, weighs 28 kilograms, and connects via dual binding posts for left and right channels.
