We Are Rewind Launches Edith Cassette Player, Citing Modern Twist on Retro Tech
We Are Rewind has announced the release of its latest cassette player model, the WE-001 Edith, joining the company’s existing lineup that includes the Amy, Keith, and Kurt units. According to the manufacturer, the Edith offers a mix of vintage charm and contemporary features aimed at both longtime cassette enthusiasts and newer listeners exploring physical media.
Retro Style, Modern Features
The Edith player includes Bluetooth capability, allowing users to play cassette tapes through wireless headphones or speakers, and offers USB-C charging with up to 12 hours of playback. It also features an aluminium casing, which the company claims gives the device a more “premium, rugged finish” compared to traditional plastic models.
Users can record audio by plugging in a powered microphone or connecting an external device via a 3.5mm line-in jack. Playback controls remain manual, and the company nods to cassette culture by suggesting the use of a pencil to rewind tapes—a reference familiar to anyone who remembers tape decks from their heyday.
We Are Rewind’s announcement follows a reported 204.7% increase in UK cassette sales in the first quarter of 2025. While digital streaming continues to dominate the music industry, recent years have seen a notable revival of physical media formats, including vinyl and cassettes.
Availability and Pricing
The We Are Rewind WE-001 Edith is currently available for purchase through select retailers, including Rough Trade, Selfridges, FNAC, Turntable Lab, and a range of independent record stores. It is priced at £129 in the UK, $159 in the US, and €149 in Europe.
