Raidho launches X1.6 Reference standmount loudspeaker with upgraded components and enhanced bass performance.
Danish high-end audio manufacturer Raidho Acoustics has introduced the Raidho X1.6 Reference, a new compact loudspeaker that builds on the company’s existing X1.6 model with revised internal components, upgraded cabling and enhanced low-frequency performance.
Handbuilt in Denmark, the X1.6 Reference incorporates a redesigned crossover using Mundorf components and Nordost Valhalla technology cabling. According to the manufacturer, the cabling is used both inside the loudspeaker and within the crossover itself, an approach more commonly associated with larger and more expensive loudspeaker systems.
Raidho says the new model represents a substantial development rather than a minor revision of the original X1.6. The company states that the updated design aims to deliver greater musical detail, dynamics and scale from a compact enclosure.
According to Raidho, the X1.6 Reference produces a more open and effortless presentation, with improved dynamic response and a quieter sonic background. The manufacturer says the speaker is designed to “disappear in the room and leave only the performance behind.”
“With the X1.6 Reference, we wanted to show how far a compact loudspeaker can be taken when nothing important is treated as ordinary,” said Morten Kim Nielsen, CEO of Raidho Acoustics. “The original X1.6 already had a very strong musical identity. But with this Reference version, the improvements are substantial. The crossover, the internal cabling, the passive radiator and the in-house Raidho drivers all work together to create a speaker that sounds much bigger and more complete than its size suggests.”
One of the key changes in the X1.6 Reference is the addition of a rear-mounted passive radiator, designed to increase bass output and physical presence. According to the manufacturer, the new configuration gives the compact loudspeaker bass authority closer to that of a small floorstanding speaker.
Raidho says the additional low-frequency capability is intended to improve balance and realism rather than emphasize bass output. The company states that the enhanced bass response allows for greater midrange openness and a larger perceived soundstage.
The X1.6 Reference also features Raidho’s in-house drivers, which the manufacturer says work in combination with the revised crossover design and internal wiring to deliver a more cohesive overall performance.
