Shanling launches M0 Pura portable Hi-Res music player with dual DACs and Bluetooth support
Shanling has introduced the M0 Pura, the fourth-generation model in its M0 series of ultra-compact portable music players. The new device combines updated audio hardware, a touchscreen interface and a range of wired and wireless playback options in a compact form factor weighing 35.8g.
According to the manufacturer, the M0 Pura is designed to deliver high-resolution audio performance while remaining portable enough for everyday travel. The player is equipped with a 650mAh battery that provides up to nine hours of continuous playback on a single charge.
At the core of the player are dual Cirrus Logic CS43131 digital-to-analogue converters (DACs), supporting PCM audio up to 32-bit/384kHz as well as native DSD128 playback. Shanling says the updated audio architecture improves overall sound quality and can deliver up to 250mW of output power into 32-ohm headphones when used with the company’s optional 3.5mm-to-4.4mm balanced adapter.
The M0 Pura features a 1.54-inch colour touchscreen and runs Shanling’s MTouch operating system, which has been developed for navigating music libraries, playlists and settings. The player is powered by the Ingenic X1000 platform, which, according to the manufacturer, balances audio performance with power efficiency.
Wireless connectivity is provided through two-way Bluetooth functionality. This allows the M0 Pura to operate both as a music source for compatible Bluetooth headphones and speakers, and as a Bluetooth receiver. In receiver mode, it can function as a compact Bluetooth DAC and headphone amplifier when connected to devices such as smartphones, laptops or gaming consoles.
The USB-C port also expands the player’s functionality beyond local playback. In addition to charging and file transfers, it supports USB DAC mode, enabling the M0 Pura to process audio from a connected computer or mobile device. The player can also serve as a bit-perfect digital transport for external USB DACs.
For music storage, the M0 Pura includes a microSD card slot supporting cards with capacities of up to 2TB. It is compatible with a wide range of audio formats, including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, APE, MP3, AAC, OGG and DSD, allowing users to play both lossless and compressed audio files.
Additional software features include adjustable playback speeds for podcasts and spoken-word content, A-B repeat, sound customisation options and user-selectable screensavers. The player also supports SyncLink remote control through the Eddict Player app for Android and iOS devices.
The Shanling M0 Pura is supplied with a USB-C to USB-C cable and two screen protectors. Optional accessories include a leather case, a clip case and a 3.5mm-to-4.4mm balanced adapter.
