iBasso unveils DX340 flagship digital audio player with modular design and dual operating systems

iBasso DX340 Digital Audio Player

Audio manufacturer iBasso has announced the DX340, a new flagship digital audio player (DAP) positioned as its latest high-end portable source. The company describes the device as a reference-grade model aimed at audiophiles seeking a flexible upgrade path and advanced internal architecture.

According to the manufacturer, the DX340 is built around a next-generation audio engine using a 1-bit discrete DAC configuration controlled by the firm’s FPGA-Master 3.0 system. iBasso states this design is intended to deliver “remarkable clarity, ultra-low distortion and exceptional timing precision,” claims that have not yet been independently verified. The player supports high-resolution formats including PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512 decoding.

A notable feature is the inclusion of two operating systems. Users can run Mango OS, which the company says provides a streamlined audio-focused playback environment, or switch to Android 13 for streaming apps and broader functionality. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor from Qualcomm, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD cards up to 2TB. A 6-inch AMOLED display with 1080×2160 resolution is intended to provide responsive navigation and access to playback controls and settings.

Modular Amp for Wide Range of Headphones

The DX340 also introduces modular amplification. The bundled AMP15 module is designed to drive a wide range of headphones, from in-ear monitors to larger over-ear models. iBasso says users can swap in alternative amplifier cards, including models in the AMP1X series as well as AMP12, AMP13 and AMP14, with future compatibility planned. Balanced and single-ended outputs are included alongside coaxial output, USB OTG capability, Bluetooth connectivity and dual-band Wi-Fi, allowing the device to function as a transport, wireless source or USB DAC.

Physically, the player features a stainless-steel chassis weighing 486g, with a limited edition titanium finish also planned. The device uses a dual-battery design separating the digital and analogue power supplies. In the press release, the company states the architecture “can ensure the stability of the headphone amplifier’s power supply and effectively isolate the electromagnetic interference of the digital part,” adding that this arrangement significantly reduces sound degradation caused by insufficient power. As with other technical performance claims, these statements reflect the manufacturer’s position.

Battery life is quoted at up to 11 hours of playback, and the dual batteries are replaceable. The system can also draw from an internal battery while connected to a fast-charging outlet, according to the company.
